Ground rules

Community guidelines

Short version: be useful, be specific, and never post a referral link.

What belongs here

Questions and answers about Indian credit cards. The most useful posts are specific: how much you spend, where you spend it, which cards you already hold. "Which card is best?" cannot be answered. "₹40k a month, mostly Swiggy and Amazon, no annual fee please" can.

This is not financial advice

Nobody here is your financial adviser, including us. Members are cardholders sharing experience, and experience goes stale: issuers change reward rates, caps and lounge rules with little notice. Anything you read here needs checking against the issuer's own terms before you act on it. If a post is out of date, mark it outdated rather than arguing with it.

Do not present yourself as a licensed adviser, and do not offer to manage anybody's applications or finances. Both get an account removed.

No referral or affiliate links

Not in posts, not in profiles, not by direct arrangement in a thread. Card forums die when every reply is quietly monetised, and the moment a recommendation pays the recommender you can no longer tell advice from advertising. New accounts cannot post links at all until they have earned some reputation, and link-bearing posts from new accounts are reviewed.

We hold ourselves to the same standard: read our advertising disclosure for how 9cards itself is funded.

Protect your own data

Never post card numbers, CVVs, OTPs, statements, application reference numbers or anything else an issuer would treat as confidential. Redact screenshots. Nobody on this forum, and nobody claiming to be from 9cards, will ever ask you for those.

How moderation works

  • Report a post rather than replying to it. Reports go to a queue, not a public argument.
  • Removed posts leave a visible marker with the reason. We don't delete history silently.
  • Edits are kept: every post shows its revision history once it has been changed.
  • Every moderation action is written to an append-only log.

Reputation

Reputation comes from other members marking your answers helpful, and from thread authors accepting an answer. Posting a lot earns nothing on its own, deliberately: volume is not the same as usefulness.

Corrections to our card pages

If a 9cards page has something wrong, post in Data corrections with a link to the issuer's page. It goes to the editorial queue, and fixing it is genuinely the most valuable thing you can do here.
