Source check: 9 September 2026. Programme announcement: 24 August 2026. This is advance coverage of an announced offer calendar, not confirmation that a particular discount is currently redeemable.

Axis Bank and MakeMyTrip have announced a long-weekend travel programme running through March 2027. The headline benefits cover domestic flights, hotels and holiday packages, with additional categories also mentioned.

The important restriction appears alongside the promotion: a dedicated booking window will open ahead of each eligible holiday period. The programme's overall duration is not a continuous discount window. An October holiday date does not establish the date on which a customer must make the booking.

For cardholders planning travel, the announcement provides a useful shortlist of potential discounts. It is not yet a complete set of transaction terms.

The confirmed headline caps

These figures are stated in the bank's announcement:

Booking categoryAdvertised instant discountMaximum discountImportant wording
Domestic flightsFlat 10%INR 1,800The cap limits the total benefit
Domestic hotelsUp to 15%INR 5,000"Up to" does not promise 15% on every hotel
Holiday packagesAdditional 5% above existing MakeMyTrip holiday offersINR 20,000Detailed application and eligibility terms still need checking

The announcement describes bookings through MakeMyTrip with payment by an Axis Bank credit card. It also mentions international flights and hotels, buses, cabs, tours and attractions, but does not supply a complete rate-and-cap table for each of those categories.

We have not filled the missing cells with rates from unrelated Axis promotions. Two offers involving the same bank and travel platform can have different eligibility, coupon codes and booking dates.

What the caps do to the percentage

Consider the domestic-flight headline in isolation. Ten percent of INR 18,000 is INR 1,800, so an eligible base of that size would reach the advertised cap. On a hypothetical eligible base of INR 30,000, the same INR 1,800 cap would represent 6%, not 10%.

That calculation illustrates the cap; it does not establish what MakeMyTrip will count as the eligible booking value. Taxes, convenience charges or other components may be treated differently in the final offer terms. The announcement says those terms, including minimum booking values, will be provided ahead of each go-live date.

The hotel offer needs an additional qualification. Even before applying the INR 5,000 cap, its rate is up to 15%, not a flat entitlement. A calculation using the highest advertised rate is not a quotation for a particular property or stay.

Our discount, cashback and reward-points comparison explains why a checkout reduction should also be kept separate from any rewards that might accrue later.

Holiday periods are not booking deadlines

The release's calendar includes Gandhi Jayanti on 2-4 October 2026, Dussehra on 18-20 October, Diwali on 7-9 November, and Christmas on 25-27 December.

Those are the programme's listed holiday periods. They are not verified purchase windows, coupon-validity dates or a promise that every journey departing on those dates qualifies.

This distinction is particularly important for anyone deciding whether to wait before booking. A future promotional window does not guarantee that the underlying fare or room price will stay unchanged. The useful comparison is the final payable amount for the same itinerary and cancellation conditions, not the size of a discount label by itself.

What is still missing

The material reviewed does not establish coupon codes, excluded card variants, per-card usage limits, exact booking windows, minimum spends or cancellation and refund treatment. It also does not say that convenience charges, card fees or other travel costs disappear.

The announcement says applicable offers will be shown at checkout and full terms will be published before the relevant go-live date. Before paying, confirm the actual discount in the payment summary and read the terms for that specific window. A general news article cannot replace the conditions attached to the booking.

If two offers appear together, do not assume they stack unless the relevant terms permit it. The release expressly describes the package benefit as additional to existing MakeMyTrip holiday offers, but that does not establish unlimited stacking with every voucher or bank campaign.

The useful takeaway

This is a concrete programme to watch for existing Axis cardholders, not a reason by itself to open a new card or bring forward unnecessary travel spending. The source gives meaningful caps and an advance holiday calendar, but leaves important transaction conditions to later booking windows.

We will not label it a live offer merely because a programme has been announced. As of the source check, the defensible claim is that the programme exists and the above benefits are advertised, with booking-specific eligibility still to be confirmed.
